Common questions

Are you HMRC?

No. We're an independent service. You can file your own return free of charge through GOV.UK. We're for people who'd rather have a professional do it for them.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many income sources you have and whether any returns are late. The tax professional gives you a fee before you commit.

Do I need to be in Making Tax Digital?

Since April 2026, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 must use MTD. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027. The tax professional can check whether it applies to you.

Who are you?

Certenna is an independent matching service. We don't prepare returns ourselves; we connect you with a tax professional who does.
